Eye Conditions

EYE CONDITIONS

Eye conditions include all conditions of the visual pathways, including the eye, brain, and areas surrounding the eye. This website provides an overview of some of the more common eye conditions and some conditions in which Dr Wong specialises  – there are far too many to detail. As a squint, or strabismus specialist, Dr Wong has a particular interest in ocular motility and neuro-ophthalmology – conditions related to eye alignment and movement.

Eye disease becomes increasingly prevalent with age. Indeed it is estimated that more than half a million Australians over the age of 40 suffer from vision impairment or blindness. It is further estimated that approximately three-quarters of these cases could have been prevented and treated. This underlines the importance of regular checkups – it is usually recommended to have an eye examination once every two years, but it may be less if you are in a high-risk category.

If you suspect that you are suffering from an eye condition, you should immediately visit your GP or eye specialist for a diagnosis.
